Staff Overview The Australasian Golf Academy believes that people are the key to performance and takes a great deal of pride in the standard of staff employed. A rigorous selection process is used to ensure that only people of the highest caliber are recruited and all staff are highly qualified and knowledgeable in their field of expertise.
An on-going program of professional development ensures that all staff are kept up to date with the latest techniques and practices, as well as developments in the golf and training industries. As part of this program, staff members are actively involved in industry bodies such as Recreation Training Queensland and Study Gold Coast, ensuring that industry knowledge remains current.

Young-Bin Han (Y.B.) had a dream of one day owning his own golf academy and helping develop the top golfers for the future. Originally from Seoul, Korea, he graduated from the University of Hanyang with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education at the age of 21 in fields including sport science, sports psychology, coaching theory, physiology, training methology, coach theory of sport, and teaching methods of sport. |
Following university, he obtained a Level 3 Instructor and Level 2 Sport Industry Gym Specialist Certificate from the Korea Sports Association. Y.B is also a licensed Ski instructor and was head coach in Yong-Pyoung ski resort and a private elementary school in Seoul where he produced numerous successful elite skiers.
To further his knowledge and to add to his already vast raft of sporting skills he decided to study Golf with AGA .The reason he chose AGA over other academies was due to the colleges ability to be flexible, goal orientated and had a good record of turning out top sports men and women.
YB graduated with the AGA Diploma of Sport (Development) in 2005 and during his course obtained a Level 1 General Principles accreditation from the Australian Sports Commission and a Level 1 Golf teaching from the Australian Golf Union. He also holds a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
Once graduated Yb was offered a teaching position at AGA and has for a number of years been coaching golfers of all ages and all nationalities very successfully.
2009 saw Yb achieve his dream by becoming the owner & director of the Australasian Golf Academy.

Welcome to the Australasian Golf Academy (AGA) my name is Ayako Kimura Originally from Tokyo, Japan I am the marketing manager for AGA. Being passionate about golf makes my job very easy I can’t wait to tell you about all the great courses we run. I know how good they are because I was a graduate of AGA completing a Golf English program & Professional Golf Program in 2007. |
My background is in Business management and I have considerable experience in manufacturing and business administration.
I love to travel and have been to Europe and many parts of Asia, my two favorite hobbies are Golf & Cooking, my visit to Italy really influenced my cooking style.

AA PGA of Australia Cert IV in Training & Assessment, Cert III in Sport & Recreation, Level 5 Diploma in Golf- Australian Sports Commission National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) Head Coach of the Australasian Golf Academy, Tony joins the AGA Coaching Team with over 15 years of golf coaching experience taking golfers from all levels of ability to better golf scores. |
After a very successful amateur golfing career which included representing NSW, Tony turned professional in 1997 after completing his Australian PGA Golf Traineeship at the renowned Newcastle Golf Club in NSW Australia.
Tony played the Australasian Professional Golfing Circuit in the early 2000's before deciding on pursuing a career in teaching golf full time. With a vast amount of experience gained working with some of Australia`s finest golf coaches and working with a multi-cultural clientele having given golf lessons in a number of overseas countries including Bali, Hong Kong, Singapore, Korea and Japan, nobody is better credentialed to oversee the development of your son or daughter.
A passionate student of the game of golf, Tony is committed to improving golfers of all levels and helping his students achieve their personal objectives and goals.

Greg is a fully trained member of the Australian PGA. His professional career spans 36 years combining coaching and playing at the highest levels gaining valuable knowledge and skills from some of the best golfers in the world, like Kel Nagle and Greg Norman, both winners of the British Open Golf Championship. |
At 16 years of age he won the Taree Club Championship, with a record score at that time, the youngest ever player to win the event. He won many junior and member events at the same club. Also at this time Greg won the NSW Schoolboy Championships by 15 strokes and the NSW junior Championship by 5 strokes. As a professional Greg also won the I.K Harrison Memorial Trophy.
Greg is a dedicated PGA golf coach and is committed to passing on his knowledge and skills, helping golfers of all skill levels from all over the world improve their swing and their golf game.
He is constantly improving and updating his training and coaching techniques so he can deliver the best golf learning experience.
Golf is a game to play and enjoy, so Greg regularly competes on the Australasian PGA Legends Tour. He currently competes in the Australian Seniors Open PGA Golf Championships, the Australian Legends PGA Golf Championships, the Victorian Seniors Open PGA Golf Championship, the Queensland Seniors PGA Golf Championship, the Queensland Seniors Open PGA Golf Championship plus many more Australian Legends Order of Merit tournaments throughout Australia.
His pleasant nature and his ever patient attitude to his work, enables Greg to relate to his students and communicate openly extracting the maximum value from his students efforts.

PGA Member Rick was born in Sydney and has played golf for over 45 years. In 1966 after caddying for the legendary South African golfer Gary Player he started his PGA golf apprenticeship at the New South Wales Golf Club. |
During the 1970’s he played on the Australasian and overseas PGA golf circuit with mixed success winning Pro-Am tournaments and qualifying for final days play in major Australian tournaments.
In 1981 he was appointed head professional at Surfers Paradise Golf Club a position he held until 1988. Rick has also been a keen running. In 1981 at the Victorian Open Golf Championship he set the Guinness Book of Records World Record for the fastest round of golf hitting a moving ball, 26minutes 20seconds and then lowered the record a year later to 25minutes, 48seconds - a record he still holds.
Rick has been involved with just about ever area of the golfing industry and is as keen on golf today as he has ever been to gain more knowledge about the workings of the golf swing and help others to improve their game. For interactive online coaching he is the inventor of new computer teaching system which allows golfers as they practice to have a private lesson from their coach or a famous professional golfer, similar to face to face communications today, but the professional never has to see the pupils swing.
He also holds a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment.

BA (Hons) (Psych) MPsych (Sport & Exercise) Matt completed a Masters in Sport & Exercise Psychology at The University of Queensland and has been focusing on the psychological needs of people involved in sport in different capacities and at different levels for the last 5 years. |
Matt consults to athletes of varying ages and ability levels in sports such as golf, tennis, triathlon, swimming, cycling, track and field, motocross and surfing. As well as the individual work he does Matt also works with the QAS golf program as well as consulting to national and state sporting organizations, schools and colleges, and private academies. Matt has lectured in sport and exercise psychology at The University of Queensland and taught sports coaching courses at Griffith University. He has presented lectures international conferences. Matt specialises in both the performance enhancement and clinical aspects of sport psychology helping people achieve and exceed their potential in their chosen sports.

My name is Marco and I will be your golf specific strength and conditioning trainer during the your training at AGA. I have a Diploma of Exercise Science and in support of this I am a certified Titleist Performance Institute Trainer whose commitment to improving the physical well-being for golfers. Graduates from the TPI differentiate themselves from other fitness professionals because of their increased knowledge base and expertise. |
A personal trainer for 10 years, I have recognised the need for a golf specific exercise program to enhance all golfers’ performance. With doing this I have worked with elite athletes through to members of the public.
What can he do for you? Marco's golf specific strength and conditioning programme focuses on the following key areas:
1. Screening and assessment which provides a measurement of the clients physical ability and potential for improvement 2. Provides you a specific strength, conditioning exercise programme. This specialised programme provides unique methods of training and exercise designed to enhance golfing performance.

Kristen MacKenzie is an Advanced Sports Dietitian who is also trained in Human Movement studies, thus bringing a mixture of knowledge and skills in performance nutrition and sports science to her practice. She has a range of interests including protein and nutrient manipulation and performance, the nutritional management of injuries and nutritional methods for promoting adaptation and recovery. She has experience working at the elite level with a range of sports in Australia and New Zealand including AFL, swimming, cricket, triathlon, athletics and weightlifting. She currently lectures at Queensland University of Technology and provides nutrition services for the Gold Coast United Football Team and for QAS Gymnastics and QAS athletes based at the Gold Coast.

Hi, my name is Lisa, I will be your cardio fitness coach helping you maintain fitness aspects as well as pushing you to achieve cardio goals when you join the exclusive mind, body and golf training program at the Australasian Golf Academy (AGA). |
I have been involved in sport and fitness most of my life and have had several years experience as a personal trainer training elite athletes from all areas of sport to the general public. I have completed a bachelor’s degree in Sport and Leisure consisting of nutrition, sports management, psychology, physiology and many others. I have also completed certificate III and IV in Fitness. I love being able to help people achieve their dreams and goals.

Josh completed an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from Griffith University. He followed this up with a Masters Degree in Physiotherapy in 2001. |
As a keen sports person Josh has worked extensively within the fields of soccer and golf. He has consulted to the - Fijian National Soccer team - The Gold Coast Elite Golfing program - Bond and Griffith University in the areas of sports rehabilitation and injury management,
Since graduating, Josh’s focus has been on creating a programme that combines health and fitness to compliment the golfing professional and this saw the development of X FACTOR GOLF (www.xfactorgolf.com.au) ? a golf health and fitness facility at Robina on the Gold Coast. Josh has consulted with and learned from Australias leading Golf Physiotherapist Ramsay Mcmaster and through this has developed expert knowledge specific to golfers.
Not only a keen A-Grade golfer himself, Josh is a competitive sportsman and is dedicated to promoting the importance of health and fitness in lowering golf handicaps. Josh conducts his golf specific physiotherapy focussing on several key factors:
1. Postural assessment and treatment 2. Diagnosing existing golf injuries and physical limitations 3. Injury prevention measures 4. Screening and personalised treatment programs.

Dean Smoothy enjoyed almost 2 decades in high-end hospitality management positions. Dean’s passion was passing on the knowledge he gain through-out his career, to anyone who desired to strive to be the best they could be. Towards the end of his career Dean study to become a trainer so that he could continueon training people for the industry that he so passionately loved.

Once completed, Dean moved into full time training, and has enjoyed many years in a number of roles including management, and is keen to ensure that the high standards of AGA are maintained.
Born in a small country town in Queensland, Dean passed his spare time by playing sport, which was made easy, as his mother, father and family were all sports orientated. The sports that Dean played included; Golf, Rugby League, Tennis, Indoor and Outdoor Cricket, Basketball, Lawn Bowls, Soccer and Squash. Deans passion for golf seen him become the first senior member of his local club prior to the age of eighteen (18). This is where Dean’s enthusiasm for golf took off and he became a committee member at the age of eighteen (18). Dean’s fondest memories during the early years of playing golf were playing match play against other clubs, playing in pro-am tournaments and winning the graded club championship in his second year of becoming a senior member.
When Dean was given the chance to become principle of AGA he jumped at the chance. Dean made the comment that, “this is the ultimate job as you get the chance to help others reach their dreams of being a professional sportsperson”. The decision was made easy due to his love of sports and the commitment and enthusiasm that the trainers, coaches and staff showed at AGA.
Dean will continue with his passion of knowledge exchange via the trainers and coaches to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to reach their goals and dreams. Dean openly invites anyone to come and enjoy the experience at AGA as they would not be disappointed.
